How is your campsite checklist?

Don’t let your camping trip get ruined by not having the right supplies. Camping is an unmatched activity. Witnessing the lovely scenes that nature offers and getting to soak in her fresh air is an experience like no other. If the idea of going camping thrills you, here are a few helpful ideas to get you started in the right direction

  1. Tent; big enough for your camping gear, loved ones, and dog.
  2. Sleeping Bags designed by Abco Tech are for camping in extreme climates, especially at Stonewall Jackson State Park campsite. Abco sleeping bags are designed to ensure that after a tiring day of trekking, hiking, travel or any other exploration you can get a good and relaxing night’s sleep. The bags have a barrel-shaped design which is wide at the shoulders and narrow at the leg’s end to offer maximum comfort, warmth, and freedom. Be prepared for colder weather than expected when choosing a sleeping bag to bring on your camping trip. Always choose a sleeping bag rated for a temperature range just below what you’re expecting, even in the summertime. Also, sleeping bags made with synthetic fibers will dry out faster if it rains unexpectedly, but natural fiber sleeping bags will be lighter to carry.
  3. Camping Pads to add some extra cushion under your sleeping bag so you don’t wake up with a stiff neck and back.
  4. Weather-appropriate clothing for Walkersville WV climate. When preparing for your camping trip, from my experience in talking to fellow campers, they often fail to bring enough clothes. Remember that there will be no washing facilities, and you also need to think about how the weather can change on short notice, so having different types of all-weather outdoor clothing that is suitable for cold, hot, and wet weather is a must have. You always want to be prepared, so pack accordingly.
  5. Be sure to check your first-aid kit before you leave for your trip. If you don’t have one, I recommend you take a look at Monoki’s Outdoor First Aid Survival Kit. Includes 16 Different Amazing Survival Tools — Multi-function Pliers, Tactical Folding Knife, Stainless Steel Saber Card, Emergency Blanket, Army Green Whistle, Compass Keychain, Fire Starter, Wire Saw, Tactical Flashlight, Fishing Lines, Fishing Weights, Fishing Hooks, Swivels, Floats, Aluminum Foil, Bait, Fishing Set Can Solve The Problem of Looking For Food Outdoors, Which can Meet Your Different Needs! You never know when something may injure you or another person on your trip, so it’s best to be prepared.
  6. If you plan on catching fish, I recommend you get a Telescopic Fishing Pole by Sougayilang. It is lightweight and portable, easily fits in your car trunk, boat or hiking backpack.
  7. Fishing Lures for catching fish in shallow and semi-deep waters. Make sure you do your research before you go. Do you want to know a little fishing secret? Use red lures and red hooks if you want to catch a bunch of fish. SShhh…don’t tell your buddy…
  8. This is an absolute must-have. Thermacell’s portable Mosquito Repellent. It is awesome. Trust me. I use it even when I am not camping. When my kids are in the backyard, I turn it on and all the mosquitos disappear.
  9. I highly recommend you bring a Fishing Lantern with extra batteries if you plan to fish at night. Certain fish are attracted to lights.
  10. Water Bottles for hiking and recreation so you can stay hydrated.
  11. Bring activities for you to have fun with while camping. Card games, corn hole, scavenger hunt lists and other supplies can make hanging out in the woods more fun. If you are going camping with children, you need to make sure that you bring a lot of things to keep them entertained during the trip.
  12. Safety first. I know this may sound funny, but building a campfire can be a bit dangerous. Take along a fire extinguisher! You never know when a fire can spread. Being prepared to put it out quickly could save your life, your gear and the woods around you. I recommend The Fireman by Mold Monster. It is capable of putting out fires of all kinds to be sure you are prepared to extinguish them all.
  13. In conclusion, this is more of an advice tip than a product recommendation. Do not approach any wild animals while you are camping at Stonewall Jackson State Park. Something that may appear harmless and adorable could be incredibly territorial. Furthermore, be sure not to feed any animals, as doing so may lead to injuries. Avoid keeping any food inside your tent to prevent animals from destroying your campsite. Keep it stored away safely or in a nearby tree.
